If you've stumbled in here no doubt you're wondering "What the Tom Dolittle is Beemu?" Well, in Japanese pop culture as close as I can tell it's some sort of little creature with unknown qualities. Nah, it don't work for me either. Actually Beemu is the brainchild of our brainy child, Brian, who's Sunday School teacher used to misspell his name, Brain. So I guess it's fitting that Brian came up with the idea of this insect/bird creature to represent these products.
Because our proprietary propolis and emu oil combination has been effective for so many skin problems, in 2008 we launched a new line of products, you guessed it, BEEMU. Beemu products combine the best of both the birds and the bees for all natural, healing bath and body products. We're kind of funny about it - if you can't pronounce an ingredient we don't want it in our stuff. At this writing 12/12/2008 we offer lip balm, soap, and of course an all purpose insect cream.
So there you have it . Check out the products in our store and ASK if you have any questions. We've got more products in the works so come back soon!
Feb 21, 2009 Update - Our Fourth Product is now available - BEE BUTTER!

November 13, 2009 Well, if this is an unlucky day I'm starting out very wrong. I'm quite happy to have two different lotion bar formulas up and ready for sale. It's been a much longer road uphill than I anticipated as the 1 oz tins I bought back in the summer didn't work out so well. The bars wouldn't come out of the tins because of an external ridge in the manufacture. Back to the drawing board!
The 1 oz mold I bought in September turned out to be a whiff in comparison to the tin large enough to hold it. The disproportion was discouraging so for the time being I'm using seasonal molds. They seem to fit quite nicely. I don't know, I may continue to use them. In the meantime a designer is working on a custom permanent mold for me. I count myself blessed to have found her!
I guess we'll see how sales go this weekend!
August 12, 2009 I'm not doing so well keeping all the new Beemu
developments posted. Summer has been good. I was happy to have more
demand than anticipated for Bee Butter and recently received word from
a relative that the unscented BB helped soothe his shingles. This is
the kind of feedback that keeps me going. I finally figured out that
my business exists to support my hobby of helping people!
Other
developments - feedback that Beemu Propolis Soap works wonders for
Acne. Just made another large order for this amazing stuff from my
partner in crime/grime at BareNakedBars.com. I'm often asked if I make
our soap. Yes and No. I don't have five years to learn to be a master
soap maker so I partnered with one and together we developed our soaps
using my honey, propolis, wax, etc. They are are rich soaps, and the
propolis/emu oil combination is as amazing in soap as it is in our
other products.
Feb 18 2009 Made the 2nd full batch of Bee Butter - it came out
right too. Fried my brain doing a cost analysis on it. Retail will be
$8 per 2 oz container. Now for some photos . . .
Feb 17 2009 Made the first full batch of Bee Butter - and held my
breath. The consistancy came out right - it just took longer to cool
in the larger containers.
Feb 13, 2009 Best Friday the 13th this girl ever had! The article
came out! Shirley called, Dr. Ken called, Kammi put it on the wall at
the Farm Center. Got to vist Dr. Ken late in the day - they suggested
making some Bee Butter unscented. I like the idea
Feb 11, 2009 I've been passing around my tub of cream - Sonja took
one look at it, gasped and said, "Bee Butter!' So that's what it will
be called! Everyone likes it. :)
Feb. 10, 2009 Peggy and Jay from the Eagle came. We had a nice
visit (interview) and Jay took lots of photos. It was kind of cute
seeing him pose all the Beemu stuff on the table.
Februray 5, 2009 Did a 2nd Beemu cream test batch last night. This time I tweaked the ingredients to deliberately make it not as thick . . . and it worked!
February 3, 2009 Just got an email from a reporter at the Dothan Eagle - they want to do the Beginner Beekeepers story on moi!!!
Jan 23, 2009 I'm not too happy with Office Max and Office Depot. I
went expecting to find the round Avery lables I've used in the past . .
. NOT!. My next thought was to make my own. After seeing Renee's
nifty paper punches I thought maybe I could use plain adhesive stock
and punch my own. The main problem with that is that the punches start
at 2" diameter, too big for my use. Back to the drawing board!
On
an entirely unrelated note, I get to be the the guinea pig for some
oversize ear candles Health Concepts had a sample of. Can't wait!
January 22, 2009 Everything is finally here . . . all the oils, the containers, the ingredients . . . and the missionary circle meeting was tonight. Priorities! So I went, and volunteered for some additional tasks for the March Women's Meeting. Good Stuff! Getting everything assembled to work on formulas was more involved than I expected. It led to some much needed organizing of room temp vs. cold temp items. I worked on the hand cream first. I only made a quarter batch, and I'm not sure whether my emulsification wasn't up to par, or if my ingredients caused it, but the cream was thinner than I would have liked. So I'll give it another shot, with maybe a half batch next time. I have plenty of friends who like samples!
The lotion bar went much better. I think I'm in love, though I did get a bit too much fragrance. My labels look great on the tin cans.
